About the event
This is an 8 week therapeutic support group for individuals wanting to learn body based therapeutic techniques to improve their coping skills associated with anxiety, depression and chronic stress.
Talk therapy is a common focus of most outpatient programs and can often lead to overall improvement in wellbeing. It is a “top down” approach, meaning that we work on how our thinking effects our emotions and behaviors. Many people benefit from additional techniques, known in the counseling world as the “bottom up” approach, to help overcome their symptoms. In the bottom up approach, we work on body based therapies to help regulate our autonomic nervous system, which can also help to manage and alleviate symptoms. Our focus will be on yoga poses, breathing techniques, mindfulness activities and art therapy.
